About Seth E. Mindel

My background is a bit different…

After graduating with a degree in Philosophy from New England College, my career aspirations were to play music, not philosophical music, but something I could play loud! This led me to the fertile rock scene in Minneapolis, where I soon played in a few bands, toured the US and Canada, and released music on various record labels.

Realizing I wasn’t the next Curt Cobain, I decided to move back home to Chicago and figure out a career that paid money. This led me to work in public relations at Jasculca/Terman during the Clinton White House years. I helped Hillary Clinton with her 50th birthday party, did advance work for her and President Clinton, and drove in motorcades; it was thrilling but didn’t pay the bills.

I worked for the City of Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs, the Office of Tourism, Mayor Daley’s campaign, and the Chicago Transit Authority. While this happened, the “dot com” boom exploded, and life inside a grey cube wasn’t where I wanted to be. Luckily, I had a contact at Giant Step, an early Leo Burnett digital agency, and they took a flier on me.

Twenty-plus years later, I am still at it and have been lucky to work with clients such as GM, Purina, JCPenney, The Home Depot, Sears, Kmart, and Kohl’s.

I continue to make music when I can and try to be the best dad and husband to my family.
